Line driver features 130-MHz bandwidth

The CLC408 line driver from Comlinear targets applications such as driving video lines into coaxial cable and unshielded twisted pairs and driving single-ended step-up transformers. In addition to 130-MHz small-signal bandwidth, the ±5V current-feedback IC guarantees 96 µA of continuous output current. Slew rate is 350 V/msec, and rise and fall times for a 2V step are 4.6 nsec. As an A/D converter driver, the driver settles to 0.05% in 20 nsec.

With a 1-MHz drive signal and a 1000V load, the second and third harmonic distortion are less than -85 and -75 dBc, respectively; with a 100V load, the comparable values are -85 and -62 dBc. Quiescent current is 1.5 mA from each supply for the $1.75 (1000) device, which is available in eight-pin DIPs and SOICs. — by Bill Schweber
