Free design software available on the Web

Several companies have begun offering free versions of their design software on the Internet. Two of the most recent are DSP Development Corp and HyperLynx Inc. DSP Development is offering a Student Edition of its DADiSP data-acquisition, -analysis, and -display software. This graphics-based spreadsheet program lets you perform graphical, mathematical, and statistical analysis of data series. It also permits FFT analysis, graphing, and display of data. The Student Edition offers as many as nine windows and 1000 data points. It is available from http://www.dadisp.com.

HyperLynx is offering its Windows-based editor for creating and maintaining IC models used in electromagnetic-compatibility (EMC) studies. The models conform to the I/O-buffer-information specification (IBIS) standard for modeling ICs in EMC and signal-integrity simulations. The editor uses a visual format for creating and maintaining models. The free software is part of the company's BoardSim and LineSim EMC design-and-simulation products. The Visual IBIS Editor is available at http://www.hyperlynx.com/.
