Hitachi America Ltd and EDN are co-sponsoring a design contest yielding a grand prize of $10,000. To win, your design must include Hitachi's SH-1 embedded processor. Register for the contest via the Internet on the Hitachi Web site (http://www.hitachi.com) or through one of the following distributor Web sites:
After registering, you can purchase an SH-1 evaluation board for $99 from one of these distributors. All entries must include a completed entry form; a schematic diagram of the design; a source-code list; and an application note describing the design's objectives, requirements, and solutions. Send mail only (no fax or e-mail) beginning on April 1, 1996; all entries must be received by Aug 20, 1996.
The judging panel will comprise two EDN editors and two members of Hitachi's application-engineering staff. EDN will publish a list of the winners in a later issue, and winners will be announced at the Hitachi booth at the Embedded Systems Conference, which will take place on Sept 16 to 19 in San Jose, CA.
In addition to the grand prize, five first prizes of $2500 each will go to best low-power or battery-powered design, best and most complete use of on-chip peripherals, best price/performance match of an SH-1 to an application, and best application note. The grand- and first-prize winners will also each receive a round trip to San Jose, CA, for three days and two nights to attend an awards banquet.
