The educational sessions on May 5 combine two full- and two half-day tracks. Topics include advanced IC design, wireless, advanced-technology interconnect issues, and communication systems. The 20 technical sessions, comprising 113 papers, cover the design and application of PLDs, gate arrays, cell-based chips, and full-custom ICs.
Keynote speaker Wally Rhines, president and CEO of Mentor Graphics, will talk on "Laying the Groundwork for the 21st Century Design Environment." CICC's luncheon speaker, Commander John Green, Science Advisor for Submarine Development at the US Navy's Deep Submergence Unit, shifts from deep-submicron to deep-sea exploration. Two evening panels address business issues associated with deep-submicron design and the technical challenges of 1-million-gate chip designs.
