PCI mezzanine card includes data transfer, DSP capability
Pentek's Model 7110 PCI mezzanine card (PMC) lets you add DSP and data-transfer capability to a system based on Alpha, Pentium, PowerPC, 68060, I960, or R4000 CPUs. You can use as many as three of these modules on a VMEbus baseboard to act as a coprocessor. Four 20-Mbps TMS340C44 communications ports allow interconnection with other Pentek DSP boards and peripherals, including A/D and D/A converters, SCSI ports, and digital receivers. The 50-MHz DSP with 512 kbytes of zero-wait-state RAM and dual-bus architecture results in 50-Mflops performance.
You can use software-development tools for the Model 7110 on a variety of platforms, such as Sun SPARCstations running SunOS or Solaris, PCs with MS-DOS, and HP 700-series workstations with HP-UX. Third-party signal-processing software, C compilers, and DSP libraries are also available for this $3495 module.by Bill Schweber
