Portable DRAM tester checks large SIMMs.
Simcheck II, a third-generation portable-memory tester, combines a 486 processor and time-delay circuitry to test DRAM single in-line memory modules (SIMMs) having storage capacities as large as 4G*40 bits. The tester measures row- and column-address-strobe access times with a resolution of 1 nsec. The tester's four voltage regulators provide a range of functional tests at 2.7 to 5.75V. Analysis modes include automatic extended-data-out, fast-page, and static-column tests. Simcheck II costs $2495. Innoventions Inc, Houston, TX. (713) 879-6226.
Windows package eases TMS320 prototype de-bugging.
A Windows-based TMS320 DSP test environment for XDS-510 compatible emulators simplifies initial prototype debugging. Instead of displaying an error message when the target cannot be initialized, Surveyor provides an array of menus and options to assist you in bringing up the target DSP board and tracking down problems within the target hardware. Surveyor is free with the purchase of a Mountain-510 universal emulator or it can be purchased separately for $199. White Mountain DSP Inc, Nashua, NH. (603) 883-2430.
Software calculates statistical resampling.
Re-sampling Stats 1.0 lets you solve complex problems in probability and statistical inference. Using the resampling technique, you construct a simulation of the problem at hand and estimate probabilities or sampling error by running trials of the simulation. The software solves most problems with a core of 15 commands. Resampling Stats 1.0 runs under DOS 3.16 and Mac 4.0. and costs $225, with quantity discounts available. Resampling Stats, Arlington, VA. Capacitance-resistance meter accurate to 0.5%.
The CR50 meter measures capacitance in nine ranges, from 200 pF to 20 mF with 0.1-pF resolution and resistance in seven ranges, from 20 Ohm to 20 M Ohm with a 0.01 Ohm resolution in the 20 Ohm range. Measurement accuracy is to within 0.5%. The instrument's zero-adjust button compensates for test-lead and stray capacitance, as well as test-lead resistance on the 20V range. The CR50 costs $69.95. Wavetek Corp, San Diego, CA. (619) 279-2200.
Web server package comes with HTML editor.
Version 1.1 of WebSite, a 32-bit multithreaded World Wide Web server for Windows NT and 95, includes Sausage Software's HotDog Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) editor, which supports text formatting, link building, tables, and forms. The package also offers Server Side Includes, which lets you combine static and programmed documents on-the-fly. WebSite's CGI server programming tool now supports the Visual Basic 4 framework, and a new graphical interface for creating virtual servers lets you set multiple Internet Protocol addresses, assign host names and URL prefixes, and keep track of each identity. WebSite 1.1 costs $499. O'Reilly & Associates, Sebastopol, CA. (707) 829-0515.
Triaxial magnetometer cuts power needs.
With a noise sensitivity as high as 8 pT, the LPM 200-LN triaxial fluxgate magnetometer requires significantly less power than previous models<20 mA of input current at 28V. Weighing 6.4 oz, the LPM 200-LN occupies 11.5 in.3. The instrument costs $2775. Billingsley Magnetics, Brookeville, MD. (301) 774-7707
Radiometer probe makes high-intensity measurements.
Able to profile small and intense sources of radiation in hostile environments, a dipstick radiometer probe uses a quartz right-angle sensing aperture with an acceptance angle of ±40° at 550 nm to accept off-axis radiation. The Ramp Micro Probe is 5 mm sq and is chrome-plated for reflectivity and heat protection at temperatures as high as 572°F. It works with the vendor's IL1400A portable radiometer and comes in 1.5- and 3-ft lengths. The Ramp Micro Probe costs $726, including an SEL detector and a P8 adapter.
