Headerless read-channel IC hits 200-Mbps data rate

The 32C9210 disk-read-channel controller IC supports headerless disk formatting to maximize capacity and 200-Mbps read-channel data rates. The IC from Silicon Systems also includes an ECC implementation that supports five-burst error correction on the fly and can correct a burst as long as 120 bits in real time. On the host side, the IC can handle the EIDE (Enhanced Integrated Drive Electronics) maximum 16.6-Mbyte/sec data rates. The 32C9210 costs $17 (1000).
