PC/104 board provides scalable CPUs
Parvus' PC/104 carrier board provides users with a range of plug-in options. The carrier card provides standard PC connections and peripheral functions, including two serial ports, disk-drive controllers, BIOS, keyboard and mouse controllers, and a parallel port. The carrier board also includes an LCD/CRT controller and battery-input connections. Boards come in 8- and 16-bit and 16-bit, flash-memory versions.
The add-in CPUs for the scalable CPU carrier board come from the S-MOS Systems Cardio family. The Cardio card plugs into the carrier, creating a single unit equivalent to several PC/104 boards. The carrier board interchangeably accepts 8086-, 80386-, and 80486-based Cardio cards. Prices for the CPU family range from $150 for a carrier board to $1500 for a loaded system with the 486 Cardio CPU.
