Matrox Video group refocuses on board-level products

Matrox will discontinue development of the Matrox Incite nonlinear editing application and is offering its DigiSuite product line to third-party digital-video providers. The line includes digital video boards and Windows NT software tools that provide a platform for broadcast, cable, and post-production applications, including nonlinear editing systems, digital disk recorders, broadcast media servers, live-video switchers, and commercial-insertion systems. The Incite development team plans to extend the DigiSuite product line to include complementary hardware, a Windows NT ActiveMovie-based software developers' kit, and drivers to let application developers access DigiSuite features. D/Vision (Chicago), the first company to announce a DigiSuite-based application, will use the platform for the company's PostSuite-XED Windows NT-based, nonlinear edition application. The DigiSuite boards are available to developers now and will be available to end users in the third quarter.
