PMC modules include dual-attach FDDI

RNS, a division of Meret Communications, has developed a series of PMC modules for OEM communications. The boards use ASICs that stay compact by avoiding use of microcode. The compact designs allow creation of the first dual-attach FDDI (fibre distributed data interface) adapter in the PMC form factor. The RNS 2350-TX ($445) is a Fast Ethernet module with an RJ-45 connector. The RNS 2250-FSS ($1495) is a single-attach FDDI adapter with an SC connector. The RNS 2250-FD ($1995) is the dual-attach FDDI adapter. The company also expects to have single- and dual-attach CDDI modules available in September. All prices are for single units, and volume discounts are available.
