Microprocessor Forum to showcase major new CPUs

The ninth annual Microprocessor Forum, which will take place on Oct 21 to 24, 1996, in San Jose, CA, will feature the first public disclosures of many new µPs. Expected announcements at the show include the K6 from AMD (Austin, TX), the M2 from Cyrix (Richardson, TX), the 21264 from Digital (Hudson, MA) the P55C next-generation Pentium from Intel (Folsom, CA), and the microJava Internet processor from Sun (Sunnyvale, CA).

This year's keynote speaker is Gordon Moore, Intel's co-founder and chairman. His address will focus on his perspective of the µP industry in its 25th year. The Microprocessor Forum will also feature artifacts and commemorative talks regarding the history of µPs.

The Forum offers four all-day seminars: "Microprocessors for PCs: A Critical Look at Technologies and Future Directions," "Comparing High-Performance Microprocessor Designs," "Evaluating Microprocessors for Embedded Applications," and "Multimedia Processors for DVD and 3D."

Fee for the four-day package, including the two-day conference and two seminars, is $2195. Fee for the conference only is $1195. Discounts are available for early registration and for subscrubers to Microprocessor Report, whose publisher is the Forum's sponsor.
