PC module features low power and price

The PCM-SX module from WinSystems helps keep portable designs compact. The PC/104-sized module provides a complete PC/AT motherboard, including disk and printer controllers, based on a 40-MHz 80386SX. Further, the module can hold as much as 8 Mbytes of DRAM and has a socket for additional memory, such as RAM, EPROM, or flash. The module runs DOS and standard PC/AT diagnostic software. It also includes embedded features, such as a watchdog timer and the ability to operate without disks, keyboard, or monitors. The module costs $360 with 1 Mbyte of DRAM and draws as little as 350 mA while running. The board operates from -40 to+85°C.
