Shlaer-Mellor users get upgrade path

Cayenne Software (Burlington, MA), maker of the ObjectTeam object-oriented software-development tool, has joined forces with Project Technology to offer ObjectTeam users an upgrade path. ObjectTeam users will be able to convert their development licenses to licenses for Project Technology's BridgePoint CASE tools. Both tools use the Schlaer-Mellor method for software design, but the BridgePoint tools include fully automated conversion from the design model to final code.

The agreement between the companies calls for sales of ObjectTeam to halt, with new customers directed to BridgePoint. Project Technology has taken over maintenance and support of ObjectTeam and is developing a data-migration tool, TeamPoint, to transfer ObjectTeam models to BridgePoint. Maintenance customers for ObjectTeam will automatically receive TeamPoint when available and may transfer their licenses at any time. New users can expect to pay about $9000 per seat (10) for BridgePoint development licenses.
