Software works on wavelets.

Wavelet Explorer, a collection of ready-to-use functions and utilities, lets you apply a variety of wavelet transforms to your project. You can view wavelets and wave packets, zooming in on details. The program generates commonly used filters, ranging from the Daubechies' external phase and least asymmetric filters to Coiflets and spline filters. Wavelet Explorer, which includes an interactive tutorial, comes in versions that run under a variety of PC and workstation operating systems. The program costs $595. PC program offers interactive math, data visualization.

HiQ, a native 32-bit application for Windows 95 and NT, brings ActiveMath and data visualization to ActiveX and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. The software uses OLE and ActiveX technologies, as well as the OpenGL 3-D graphics library. Analyzer troubleshoots ESCON data links.

The GLA-3100 gigabit link analyzer helps you diagnose problems on Enterprise System Connection (ESCON) data links in network/server applications. Unobtrusively monitoring a full-duplex ESCON link, the GLA-3100 stores as much as 2 Gbytes of traced frames. Software that comes with the unit provides extensive diagnostics; data capture with time-stamping; and search, sort, filter, and trigger tools to pinpoint network errors. Handheld DMM's large LCD is easy to read.

Two autoranging DMMs provide a 4000-count digital display with 0.78-in.-high numerals, plus a 42-segment analog bar graph. The Model 2005 and Model 2015 offer manual-mode range locking, maximum/minimum data hold, and a relative compare mode. Both meters perform standard-measurement functions, including frequency and capacitance. The Model 2015 also performs true-rms ac measurements. Handheld DMMs are economically priced.

The Mini-Pro series of DMMs consists of three low-cost models. The Model 2405 measures dc voltage to within 0.5%, ac voltage to 600V, ac current to 20A, and resistance to 20 MV. Similar to the 2405, the Model 2406 also measures temperature and comes with a type-K thermocouple input. The Model 2407 offers a bargraph, 3200-count display, ac/dc voltage- and current- measurement capability, and diode and continuity tests. PCMCIA-based module analyzes SCSI activity.

Plugged into the PCMCIA socket of your notebook computer, the SCSI-View Model SV-1620 performs 10-nsec timing, performance, and protocol analysis of Fast-20 SCSI systems. The module analyzes wide and narrow SCSI systems that use single-ended or differential interfaces and run at speeds as high as Fast-20. It also analyzes the SCAM protocol that plug-and-play systems use, displaying activity in both protocol and timing views. Windows program ex-tends graphics and analysis functions.

Origin Version 4.1, a collection of technical graphics and data-analysis tools, adds ternary diagrams and bubble charts, a calibration template, improved sigmoidal fit and FFT smoothing, and extended development support for creating scripts with the built-in programming language, LabTalk. Portable universal programmer for treks in the field.

Small enough to fit into a briefcase so that you can take it into the field, the LV40Portable universal programmer accommodates EPROM, EEPROM, flash, RAM, PROM, PLD, PAL, and GAL devices, as well as >180 microcontrollers. It requires no adapters or add-on modules for DIPs with as many as 40 pins. Socket adapters are available for PLCC, SOIC, QFP, PGA, and TSOP configurations. Pressure transducer is-sues digital output.

The RS-232C or RS-485 ASCII output of the DP-100 pressure transducer accommodates as many as 32 sensors on a single serial port. Onboard A/D conversion and digital compensation provide 0.1% accuracy over a temperature range of –40 to +85°C. Windows software teams with instrumentation cards. BenchTop Plus adds analytical functions, a boundary-comparison function, and a script-based interpreter to the BenchTop Lite Windows-based software package, which comes with the vendor's instrument cards. By combining BenchTop Plus with one or more of the cards, you can create such virtual instruments as spectrum, pulse, signature, and frequency-response analyzers BenchTop Plus costs $495. PC card turns notebook into IEEE- 488 instrument controller.

With the Personal488/Card, you can connect as many as 14 IEEE-488 instruments to the PCMCIA Type II slot of your notebook computer. The card transfers data at rates as high as 1 Mbyte/sec using the IEEE-488.2 handshake protocol. It also automatically generates and detects termination characters to further improve throughput. Clamp-on power meter provides data logging.

Equipped with a four-digit, 2-in. LCD and 40-segment bargraph, the Model 382060 clamp-on power data logger measures as much as 1000 kW of power without interrupting circuit connections. Clamp jaws open to 1.8 in. (46 mm). The unit stores as many as 1000 readings and displays true-rms volts, amps, power factor, watts, minimum/maximum, and average. Universal programmer seats 48-pin DIP devices.

ChipMaster 6000, a universal device programmer, employs a processor and an FPGA that allow it to accept DIP-type PLDs, µPs, and high-density memory chips without adapters. The unit programs an 8-Mbyte EPROM in <100 sec. The base unit comes with a 48-pin zero-insertion-force socket that accepts 300- and 600-mil devices, a 44-pin PLCC adapter, a switching power supply, a 6-ft printer cable, and Windows and DOS interface software. Self-contained, near-field probes detect EMI.

The ScanEM-C Model CTK01 probe kit comprises two fully self-contained, near-field EMI field-strength indicators. The E- and H-field probes provide RF and dc output for use with any spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, multimeter, or frequency counter. Each probe is small enough to fit into the palm of your hand. Loop-back tester checks PC parallel and serial ports.

The Boomerang loop-back set tests the parallel and serial ports of PCs with Intel processors. The tester requires no external plug-in power source or batteries. Active circuitry individually tests each pin of the connection while the device is active.
