Scientific graphic spreadsheet melds with Excel. DADiSP, a graphic spreadsheet program for scientific data analysis, now works with Microsoft Excel, offering seamless integration and data exchange between the two programs. The union of these two spreadsheets lets you manipulate series of numbers in a graphical and visual manner. With DADiSP, you can build complex programs or analysis chains by simply linking functions through a series of dynamic interactive analysis cells. As data is entered or changed, all cells recalculate and update their entries automatically. DADiSP costs $1895. DSP Development Corp, Cambridge, MA. (617) 577-1133.

Microwave network analyzers cover test needs to 40 GHz. A choice of options lets you configure the HP 8720D family of microwave-vector network analyzers for a range of application-specific device-test measurements. Covering a frequency range of 50 MHz to 40 GHz, the three analyzers include a built-in source, receiver, and S-parameter test set. Solid-state switching and 1-Hz resolution are standard. Options include a four-sampler test set that provides TRL calibration, a high-stability frequency reference, and a high-power test set (to 20W). Prices start at $48,500. Hewlett-Packard, Santa Clara, CA. (800) 452-4844.

DSOs sample as many as 2G samples/sec. Two InstaVu DSOs characterize and debug a range of electronic components and systems. The TDS 782A has a bandwidth of 1 GHz and samples as many as 2G samples/sec on two channels. The four-channel TDS 754A offers a 500-MHz bandwidth and sample rates as high as 2G samples/sec on two channels or 1G sample/sec on all four channels. Both instruments incorporate a color display and provide advanced triggering modes, including a time-out mode. Prices start at $21,995 for the TDS 782A and $18,500 for the TDS 754A. Tektronix Measurement Group, Pittsfield, MA. (800) 426-2200.

CompactPCI card supplies analog and digital I/O. The Model 8404, an analog and digital I/O card for CompactPCI-bus industrial computers, provides 16 channels of differential analog input, eight channels of analog output, and 24 lines of digital I/O. Analog input has 13-bit resolution, and analog output has 14-bit resolution and 12-bit accuracy. The 3U-format card, which fits standard I/O racks, is calibrated and configured entirely through software. Supplied with Windows NT and Unix Level 4 drivers, the Model 8404 costs $995. Pro-Log Corp, Monterey, CA. (408) 372-4593.

Analyzer verifies compliance of USB peripherals. The FSUSB analyzer inserts an electrical and mechanical interface between the USB and a Hewlett-Packard logic analyzer for both state and timing passive-bus analysis. Advanced triggering makes it easier to characterize and debug USB peripherals and USB-based systems. Software included with the analyzer contains configuration files and a USB-transaction inverse assembler. The FSUSB costs $2200. FuturePlus Systems Corp, Colorado Springs, CO. (719) 380-7321.

48-bit digital I/O cards plug into industrial PCs. Four models comprise the DIO48(S)I series of digital I/O cards for IBM PC-compatible industrial computers, all of which have 48 optically isolated digital I/O lines. Boards provide 28 or 60V operation and come with (48SI models) or without (48I models) change-of-state interrupt capability, a function that automatically interrupts the host PC in real time according to user-specified setup parameters. Each board provides isolation as high as 5000V rms between channels and between each channel and the host PC. Prices range from $350 to $485. Industrial Computer Source, San Diego, CA. (800) 523-2320.

System moves test vectors to manufacturing floor. Faster than previous versions, Release 2.1 of the Asset IEEE 1149.1 boundary-scan diagnostic system is a full 32-bit implementation running on PCs or VXI-based systems under Windows 95. Asset 2.1 also adds ScanDriver, a module that applies test vectors in a manufacturing environment, and the Advanced Diagnostics module, which identifies board defects down to the pin and device level. ScanDriver and Advanced Diagnostics modules cost $5495 and $4995, respectively. Asset prices start at $8495. Asset InterTech Inc, Richardson, TX. (214) 437-2800.
