| Trace analysis of
miss ratio and execution time vs block size and
cache size for two cache configurations shows
that, although a more complex cache speeds
execution, execution times as a function of block
size generally converge toward a 32-bit cache
size. For this analysis, block size varies from 8
to 64 bytes, cache size varies from 4 to 64
kbytes, and the two cache configurations are
write-through, direct-access, no write buffer and
copy-back, two-way set-associative, two-deep
write buffer. |
