RADCAM

Radical

The RadCam digital camera gives two-way radios a new function. Use it to send an image to your boss in the next town or to your mom in another state on VHF/UHF or HF. The device, which works with just about every brand of radio, captures, stores, and displays an image in 17 sec at 9600 baud. It includes a detachable CCD camera and a 1.8-in. color thin-film-transistor LCD. Use it with the vendor's transceivers or with your PC. The device costs $585. ACCESSLINK II

Big functions, teensy package

The two-way AccessLink II pager is small in size (3.2X2.2X0.75 in.) but big in substance. It's got 2 Mbytes of flash and 2 Mbytes of SRAM and runs on one 1.5V AA alkaline for 30 days. Its IrDA port allows data exchange with laptops, palmtops, and handheld devices. And a four-line display with electroluminescent backlighting lets you originate, receive, and reply to messages. SkyTel sells the devices for $195; leasing is available as well (www.skytel.com). Service plans begin at $24.95. Glenayre Wireless Technologies, Santa Clara, CA. 1-408-653-1555. www.glenayre.com. DIWWY

I brake for coffee

"Drinks on the dash for people on the go." So claims the manufacturer of the Diwwy, a dash-mounted hot-water dispenser for coffee in your car. The pump and heater unit, which installs under the passenger seat, connects to the car's battery; you store the water bottle in the trunk. The company offers presealed cups of soups, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Temperature sensors, auto- shutoff, water-level sensors, and fuses make sure you can drink and drive safely. Diwwy costs approximately $165. Diwwy UK Ltd, Witney, UK. +011 44 1865 882950. www.diwwy.co.uk. Circle No. 402

POWERBOLT

Safe and secure

At the press of a button, you can lock or unlock a deadbolt on your front door. The PowerBolt remote-control deadbolt is easy to install and features a code-rotating RF system that provides over a billion combinations. The three-button remote keychain can be used to control two other devices, plus it can learn the codes to most garage-door openers. Or you can turn on a light with the optional RF lamp module. $169.95. Home-Automation Systems Inc, Irvine, CA. 1-800-762-7846. www.smarthome.com. Circle No. 403
