&& PREVIOUS FINALIST | MAIN | NEXT FINALIST >> Category: Power: Special Finalist: Webench Visualizer, National Semiconductor ![]() The Webench Visualizer Web software allows engineers to see the results of multiple power supply design configurations. It builds on the foundation of the Webench Designer, an online power supply, filter, sensor, and signal path development tool. Rather than analyze just one specific design, the Visualizer extends the analysis to every possible option. It can show design results for 25 dc-dc power supply architectures and more than 21,000 components from 110 manufacturers. Five electronics distributors update price and availability hourly. There are roughly 48 billion alternative input values for a single power supply to cover the possible values for Vin, Vout, and Iout. For every one of these design combinations, the Webench Visualizer will produce up to 70 different and completely optimized power supplies in seconds. The design that “best” meets the desired dialed-in weighting is highlighted in green, with the alternative designs available for exploration. Every design presented includes a complete bill of materials of real components selected specifically for each socket to best optimize the complete design to meet the dialed-in preference targeted by the user. Component selection algorithms are tuned to five dial settings (footprint, footprint/price, balance, efficiency/price, efficiency), with each setting affecting the balanced selection of optimized components from the potential library. The Webench Visualizer is available at www.national.com/visualizer. |
