&& PREVIOUS FINALIST | MAIN | NEXT FINALIST >> Category: Networking Finalist: Comcerto 1000 series embedded packet processors, Mindspeed Technologies ![]() Mindspeed’s Comcerto 1000 family of single- and dual-core packet processors target a variety of voice and data communications equipment applications. They leverage energy-efficient ARM processor technology (an ARM11 core running at 450, 533, or 650 MHz) and Mindspeed's low-power design techniques to achieve extremely low power consumption (less than 2W typical at 650 MHz). Comcerto 1000 I/O's interfaces, in conjunction with Mindspeed's multilayer bus architecture, allow nonblocking concurrent transactions across all data interfaces, thus minimizing on-chip packet processing latency. A very high-speed, multilayer bus architecture allows six concurrent simultaneous DMA (direct memory access) operations, reducing congestion risk and optimizing packet transfers from one interface to another. Comcerto 1000 integrates peripherals such as a USB2.0 PHY, two PCI Express lanes (providing, for example, bridges to Wi-Fi and SATA transceivers), two gigabit Ethernet ports, and a four-port DDR-2 SDRAM controller (supporting speed grades up to DDR2-800) with various power management modes. |
