The current-generation QSD8250 (which supports GSM, GPRS, EDGE, and HSPA networks) and QSD8650 (additionally supporting CDMA2000 1X and 1xEV-DO Release 0/A/B) are fabricated on a 65-nm process and combine a 1-GHz ARM 7 CPU core with a 600-MHz DSP. The upcoming 45-nm-based QSD8650A boosts the processor core speed to 1.3 GHz, along with accelerating the internal bus speed to 166 MHz. It also offers a standalone 2D graphics accelerator and enhanced 3D graphics core, all in the same 15×15-mm package as current Snapdragon chipsets. It touts 1080p (versus 720p) high-definition video recording and playback capabilities, improved Adobe Flash performance, a wider range of multimode UMTS and CDMA 3G mobile broadband connectivity options and support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 12-megapixel still camera resolutions, and mobile broadcast TV. |
