Engineers can no longer do their jobs solely by focusing on a few signals in the physical layer. Increasingly, they need to correlate analog events running at fast clock rates with digital context (states) and data content. In some cases, standard oscilloscopes may lack the number of channels necessary to discriminate complex bus signaling or system states. The combination of an oscilloscope and logic analyzer can provide sufficient signal visibility, but precise time correlation between instruments may be difficult to achieve, and users are forced to interact with two different interfaces, compromising usability. Tektronix says the MSO70000 Series is the industry’s first family of performance mixed-signal oscilloscopes. The family of instruments combines high-performance analog and digital acquisition capability to address emerging classes of mixed signal applications from embedded computing and high-speed serial interfaces to wideband RF. The MSO70000's 16 logic channels can accommodate low-speed serial interfaces found in a growing number of high-performance ASICs and systems, leaving its four high-bandwidth analog channels available for critical timing analysis. The logic channels also provide the signal visibility necessary for state-specific triggering in complex systems like DDR3 or electronic warfare systems requiring transient group delay measurements. The MSO70000 establishes a differentiated platform for addressing high-bandwidth applications. Precise, deep-record logic signal acquisition, a 2.5-GHz differential-logic probe with solder-in accessories, and time-aligned digital and analog trigger paths for real time fault detection set this family of Performance MSO's apart. |
