CommAgility has introduced a baseband Advanced Mezzanine Card that integrates all core PHY and MAC functions for LTE or WiMAX 4G services. The AMC-2C87W3 is based on a Wintegra WinPath3 network processor core, and includes security processing and an S1/X2 interface. The card meets all antenna connectivity requirements for eNodeB base stations.
The WinPath3 processor handles symmetric multiprocessing with 12 separate datapath cores, offering 64 parallel hardware threads in the user plane, and dual control-plane processors. Also on the card are two 1.2-GHz TCI6487 DSPs from Texas Instruments, which implement a single-sector 2 x 2 MIMO LTE system. A Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA on the card supports CPRI/OBSAI functions and DSP co-processing.
The card has three SFP optical sockets that can be configured as CPRI or Gigabit Ethernet. The card includes a Serial RapidIO switch, the TSI578T from IDT Inc., to link the processing devices. The card ships in March.
