&& PREVIOUS FINALIST | MAIN | NEXT FINALIST >> Category: Programmable Logic and Fast-turnaround ASICs Finalist: Virtex-5 FXT FPGAs (Xilinx) The Virtex®-5 FXT FPGA platform leverages the Xilinx ASMBL™ architecture to enable fully programmable SOCs. This innovative architecture integrates key system building blocks – single/dual processors, highly configurable DSP elements, high-speed serial transceivers, on-chip memory, and connectivity IP – with the highest performance of any reconfigurable SOC in production today. The Virtex-5 FXT platform establishes an industry record with 1900 DMIPs of embedded processing performance, and includes up to 24 integrated 6.5 Gbps serial transceivers, over 190 GMACs of DSP processing performance, and up to 92 terabits/sec of memory bandwidth at 500 MHz. This performance is coupled to the industry’s leading programmable logic that is an average of 30% faster with 65% greater logic capacity and 35% lower dynamic power consumption than previous 90nm generation FPGAs. The Virtex-5 FXT platform offers superior flexibility, scalability, and freedom of choice. Drop-in package migration between the four Virtex-5 platforms enables designers to quickly and easily scale the processing performance of their systems. Support for multiple memory standards and advanced memory management features that maximize system throughput are built into all Virtex-5 FXT devices, including a dedicated memory bus interface and optimized soft memory controller supporting up to DDR2 667 Mbps. Co-processing acceleration capability is provided via the enhanced Auxiliary Processor Unit controller supported by a soft double-precision floating point unit. |
