Denali lands exclusive memory deal with Samsung

By Ann Steffora Mutschler, Senior Editor -- EDN, August 9, 2007

Longtime memory technology development partners Denali Software Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. reported Wednesday that Denali is the exclusive commercial provider of simulation models for memory devices made by the memory giant.

In naming Denali as exclusive provider of its simulation models, Samsung said it is aiming to ensure faster access to high-quality simulated designs for its memory customers, while allowing designers to speed development of systems that utilize Samsung DRAM and NAND Flash memory, among other current and future memory devices.

Samsung estimates that its customers could shave approximately six to eight weeks off their product development cycles as a result of this collaboration.

Kevin Lee, VP for memory marketing at Samsung explained that the goal is to provide customers with the best design tools for Samsung’s many memory solutions, so they can accelerate product development and better differentiate products in markets ranging from consumer electronics to networking and communications. “By working with Denali, we are ensuring much earlier access to high-quality simulation models for design and verification of memory systems,” he said in a statement.

Under the new arrangement, Samsung noted that it extends its participation in Denali’s memory vendor program, which formalizes cooperative relationships between Denali and leading memory vendors.
