Mezzanine card features dual cores

With low-power-embedded-telecom, network-centric-warfare, surveillance, medical-imaging, and industrial-automation applications in mind, Motorola recently announced the PrAMC-7210, an AMC (advanced mezzanine card (AMC) that the company based on the Intel Core 2 Duo processor core and Intel 3100 server-class chip set. With as much as 4 Gbytes of DDR SDRAM running at 400 MHz and an onboard flash disk, the PrAMC-7210 targets high-performance operation and reliable-storage applications. One eight-lane PCI Express link supports autonegotiation to lower lane widths and reduce port bifurcation. The module also includes two GbE (gigabit-Ethernet) links for off-board communications and two SATA interfaces for local hard-disk storage.

The PrAMC-7210 is available with either the MontaVista Carrier Grade Linux or the Wind River Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition operating software. The first PrAMC-7210 modules will debut in the third quarter of 2007 with prices of less than $2000 for volume orders.
