UMC posts yet another sales dip

Taiwan-based foundry giant United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC) today reported unaudited net sales for the month of December, posting yet another sales dip.
UMC recorded sales of $256.4 million (8.37 billion new Taiwanese dollars), down 7.17 percent from the company's December 2005 revenues and down 3.66 percent from the $269 million (8.7 billion new Taiwanese dollars) in sales it posted in November.
Despite the recent sales slump, however, the company has still made significant sales growth for the entire year. UMC posted sales of $3.2 billion (104.1 billion new Taiwanese dollars) for the period from January to December of 2006, up 14.68 percent from the same period in 2005.
