Chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices has inked a deal with China-based PC provider Founder Technology to include its processors in Founder's systems.
Founder expects to launch AMD64 processor-based desktop PCs throughout China in early October. From there, the sales agreement will begin with desktop systems and expand to cover both the notebook and the server markets in the near future.
Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
"Founder Technology's collaboration with AMD is based on our shared understanding of the market," Qi Dongfeng, Founder's president, said in a statement
According to market research firm IDC, Founder sold 2.5 million PCs in 2005, making it the second-largest PC provider in China. The top spot in the China PC market belongs to Lenovo Ltd., which has also announced the debut of AMD processor-based systems today.
