Intel Acquires XML Acceleration Company

Online staff -- EDN, February 8, 2006

Intel Corp. has acquired Conformative, an Austin, Texas based developer of hardware based XML acceleration technology.

An Intel spokesman confirmed the purchase Wednesday, saying that the deal will deliver added value to Intel’s customers.  The technology will deliver performance benefits over networks and can be used across Intel’s product line including in the enterprise, on desktops, laptops and on networking equipment.

Intel did not disclose the value of the deal but said that the cost was not material to Intel’s financials.

There are currently no plans to move the Austin company to another Intel facility, the spokesman said. Intel plans to continue the employment of all the staff members of Conformative and said that gaining their expertise was a key part of the transaction.
