Digitally programmable dc/dc converter complies with PMBus
-- EDN, October 27, 2005
Part of a new family of PMBus-compliant dc/dc converters, the nonisolated DPL20C POL (point-of-load) converter features a set of digital-configuration, monitoring, and diagnostic facilities accessible through the PMBus interface. This 20A output converter stores all configuration and setup data in nonvolatile memory and powers up with the preprogrammed default settings, eliminating external power controls. Peripherals include a 4.5 to 13.8V-wide input range, 0.6 to 5.5V programmable output voltage, a library of 45 executable PMBus commands, the ability to source and sink 20A of load current, and differential remote sensing. The DPL20C targets computing, storage, and networking applications.
