FROM EDN EUROPE: Software test cases qualify media messaging systems
By Graham Prophet -- EDN, February 3, 2005
Although Media Messaging (MMS) has been available for some time on cellular networks, the success rate in message delivery has been variable, especially when messages are sent between networks. Test-and-measurement-systems vendor Anite is addressing this issue with its ACT (Applications-enabler Conformance Toolset) software package. The software develops validated tests for MMS as well as provides the capability to testing mobile Web browsers at the WAP2 (Wireless Application Protocol 2) level. Tests conform to the requirements of the Open Mobile Alliance and help to achieve ETS (Enabler Test Specification) MMS testing. It covers versions 1.0 to 1.2 of the ETS. Handset-makers can gain increased confidence that the units they deliver will conform and interoperate correctly. Anite says that operators should be assisted in increasing usage and therefore revenue from MMS services. The package will also test a variety of other data-management and synchronisation issues on mobile systems.
