Festival evaluations deliver encouraging results
By Brian Dipert -- EDN, October 30, 2003
The fall music-festival season is in full swing, providing an ideal environment for testing Core Sounds’ PDAudio-CF and Mic2496, along with corresponding Pocket PC-based software from companies such as Gidluck Mastering and Pocco Software (see “Sound savings: Portable audio recorder takes on tape, part 1 and part 2,” EDN, May 29, 2003, pg 32 and June 12, 2003, pg 28). Inevitable minor hardware and software glitches have cropped up, but the overall outcome has been impressive enough that I’m selling all of my DAT (digital-audio-tape) gear and embracing the hard-drive- and semiconductor-based storage future.
