Bell Microproducts to Distribute Broadcom RAID
Online staff -- EDN, March 15, 2004
Broadcom Corp. today announced that storage-centric distributor Bell Microproducts has signed an agreement to distribute Broadcom RAIDCore serial ATA RAID controllers internationally.
The RAID controllers use Broadcom's proprietary Fulcrum architecture software and are aimed at the small-to-medium sized business (SMB) markets.
The distribution agreement allows Bell Microproducts to distribute Broadcom's RAIDCore RC4000 SATA RAID controllers to resellers in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America and Europe.
"By the end of the first month following the launch of RAIDCore controllers, requests for these products were significant, and the move to bring enterprise-level data integrity and performance to SMBs became a prime objective of Bell Microproducts," said Jerry Kagele, executive VP of commercial products sales and marketing of Bell Microproducts, in a statement. "As we continue to see growth in the SMB market, partly fueled by more and more storage hungry applications, the potential for Broadcom's RAIDCore solutions is easy to see and we are very excited to be partnering with them."
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
