-- EDN, January 20, 2000

A series of lowpass filters from Murata Electronics offers cutoff frequencies as high as 30 MHz and stopband rejection as high as 55 dB. The AF Series of active filters is suitable for various wireless and wired communications systems, as well as audio/visual systems, such as high-definition TV. An example is the AFM712YL30MK1, a triple lowpass filter for digital-TV applications. It comes with a cutoff frequency of 15 or 30 MHz and contains an output amplifier for RGB video signals. The filter has three independent channels, each with a cutoff frequency of 15 or 30 MHz. Stopband rejection for a 30-MHz filter is greater than 20 dB at 44 MHz. The device costs $6.62 (10,000).
