Development system works in G.Lite design
-- EDN, January 20, 2000
Massana's new Filu development system lets you evaluate the company's Filu family of DSP coprocessor cores by combining the cores with several industry-standard RISC processors. Massana implemented the devices in an FPGA operating at 20 MHz. The first application of the development system is for a G.Lite reference design based on the Filu-DMT coprocessor core. This core hard-wires all G.Lite functions in ROM with programmable coefficients, parameters, and host configuration. Other features of the system include a prototyping area for user-defined signal conditioning, an LCD, an RS-232 interface, and a 16-bit stereo-audio codec. The Filu development system sells for $5000 a seat. Massana also plans to release a Fast Ethernet physical-layer core in the first quarter and a Gigabit Ethernet physical-layer core in the third quarter of 2000.
