ARM opens Taiwan R&D center in Hsinchu

By Peter Clarke, EE Times -- EDN, November 21, 2011

LONDON - Processor intellectual property licensor ARM Holdings plc has announced it has opened a design center in Hsinchu Science Park, Hsinchu, Taiwan.

The focus of the design center will be on physical IP development and processor implementation support for Cortex processors and Mali graphics processors. The center is working on 28-nm and 20-nm technologies for Cortex A-series processors, ARM (Cambridge, England) said.

The center will enable closer interaction with local ARM partners, such as foundry Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd.

Staffing is by a mix of existing ARM employees on assignment and new local staff, the company said. ARM did not disclose how many people are being employed at the Hsinchu office.
