Ethernet magnetic module packs two channels

By Bill Schweber -- EDN, 11/8/2001

Targeting copper Gigabit Ethernet operation over Category 5 cable, dual magnetic modules from Pulse Engineering use 20% less pc-board space than single-channel units. The H5012 and H5014, each with 1:1 turns ratio, work with Ethernet transceivers from Broadcom (www.broadcom.com) and Marvell (www.marvell.com), respectively, and provide electrical isolation and low current-mode emissions in compliance with IEEE 802.3ab specifications (Picture). The 48-pin modules cost approximately $6 (10,000).
