RF relay stands and repeats
By Bill Schweber -- EDN, 4/24/2003
In many designs, repeatability and consistency of a parameter are as important as the parameter's value. The nonlatching, surface-mount GRF-100 and GRF103 electromechanical relays from Teledyne Relays feature a ground shield to insulate and shield each lead, thus enhancing contact-to-contact and pole-to-pole isolation and providing a ground interface (Picture). These relays operate at 5 to 6 GHz and target use in switch matrices, attenuators, automatic test equipment, and similar applications. These devices, which differ in coil sensitivity, have an RF insertion loss that is repeatable to ±0.1 dB. The hermetically sealed relays are available with 5 or 12V coils and come with full performance data on insertion loss, isolation, VSWR, pulse rise time, and propagation-delay specifications. They mount on standard 0.100-in. grid centers, measure 0.375×0.375 in., and have a height of 0.33 or 0.435 in., depending on model. They sell for $25.97 (500).
