Device targets entry-level print applications

By Robert Cravotta -- EDN, 7/10/2003

Oak Technology’s OTI-4100 replaces the ARM9 core in the OTI-4110 with an ARM7 core and integrates it the Quatro SIMD DSP core to target cost-sensitive, entry-level, multifunction-ink-jet and personal-laser-printer applications. The OTI-4100 supports PC-independent printing by including support for USB 2.0 high-speed device, USB full-speed host, memory-card interfaces, fax support, and print-carriage and scanner control. Software-development tools include ARM’s (www.arm.com) Developer Suite and Oak’s GNU-based tool chain.

An integrated ARM and Quatro debugger is in development for release this year. Engineering samples of the OTI-4100 are available now in 216-pin LQFPs, and the company schedules production-quantity availability to begin by October at prices starting at $9.85 (100,000).
