Move over FFT

By Nicholas Cravotta -- EDN, 6/26/2003

RF Engines has added high-speed, polyphase DFT to its Ventrix family of cores for applications such as wideband filter banks, radar, sonar, medical instruments, real-time spectral analysis, and multichannel-communications systems with many interleaved, low-speed channels. The pipelined core offers better filter performance than that of weighted-FFT for better inband ripple, stopband rejection, and roll-off.

You can optimize the number of polyphase taps for applications that require high dynamic range, filter selectivity, and amplitude accuracy. The parameterized core is available in versions having eight to more than 1 million points. Critically sampled, twice-oversampled, and n-time-oversampled versions are also available. The device is available now, and prices range from a few hundred dollars to $8000, depending on volume.
