Precision resistor divides, conquers high voltages

By Bill Schweber -- EDN, 9/25/2003

Some real-world analog applications, such as medical and analytical electronics, need precision resistive division of high-voltage values, along with low ratio drift. To fill that need, Caddock’s Type HVD divider networks come in three maximum voltage and resistance families, with division ratios of 100-to-1 and 1000-to-1. Ratio temperature coefficient is as low as 5 ppm/°C, ratio-voltage coefficient is as low as 0.02 ppm/V, and ratio tolerance is ±0.05%. Caddock offers these dividers in 1500V-dc, 10-MΩ; 2500V-dc, 20-MΩ; and 5000V-dc/50-MΩ maximum-value pairings. Depending on family, the precision high-voltage dividers sell for $14.30 to $25.42 (100).
