Tektronix has produced a bundled solution of analysis software and probe technology to operate with its TDS6000 and TDS/CSA7000 instruments. It provides characterisation and parametric measurements on serial links using the PCI-Express serial bus standard. The RT-eye serial data carries out waveform analysis and provides software clock recovery, eye diagrams, and a suite of parametric measurements including amplitude, timing, and jitter. It can characterise total jitter at a bit-error rate of 10^–12. A variant of the P7350 differential probe helps with probing and provides SMA connections to accurately capture the 2.5-Gbps signals. Tektronix says this variant is a response to the increasing practice of routinely providing SMA connection on serial-bus prototypes, simplifying development. A specific support package, TMS 817, brings the TLA700 logic analyser into the picture, providing you with probe cables and software tools for analysis of PCI-Express signal in the logic domain. You can deskew, decode, and descramble the serial data and trigger on specific packet contents.
