Rectifier packs 3A into SMA package

Basic rectifiers are vital to efficient power supplies and circuits, but their size is a potential problem. A new series of Schottky rectifiers from Vishay, SSA23L through SSC54, can help. The units are available in 3A SMA (DO-214AC), 4A SMB (DO-214AA), and 5A SMC (DO-214AB) sizes; these devices tout current handling that is 1 to 2A higher than other available units in the same-sized package (Picture).
Selling for 5 to 12 cents (10,000), the devices meet UL 94V-0 flammability requirements, operate in temperatures as high as 150°C, and can withstand 25-kV ESD.
