Intel to Use Nvidia for PCI Express Launch

Online staff -- Electronic News, 5/27/2004

Intel Corp. will use graphics chipmaker Nvidia Corp.'s products as part of the semiconductor giant's PCI Express-enabled chipset launch programs, Nvidia has announced.

Santa Clara, Calif.-based Intel has purchased several thousand Nvidia PCI Express enabled GPUs, which the company will use for platform level testing, software development, channel seed kits, technical solutions training and demo systems.

By using PCI Express (PCX) high-speed interconnect (HSI) Nvidia said it can transform its GeForce FX series into a full family of PCI Express graphics processing units.

"The industry's confidence in HIS technology highlights the stability, value and performance of Nvidia's PCX family," said Dan Vivoli, executive vice president of marketing, in a statement.
