SmartASIC is rolling out four thin-film-transistor-LCD controllers for a variety of display configurations (Picture). The $15 (5000), 85-Hz, XGA-resolution SD1010 controller comes in a 160-pin TQFP, targets monitors as large as 15 in., and includes dual input channels that, along with external receiver chips, enable the LCD panel to work with both analog- and digital-system interfaces. The $12 (5000) SD1010A and $11 (5000) SD1010D come in smaller 128-pin TQFPs and offer single-channel analog and digital buses, respectively. The $18 (5000) SD1201 offers similar features and packaging to the SD1010 but supports 85-Hz, SXGA resolutions ideal for 16- to 18-in. LCD monitors. All devices are now in production. Free reference-designs include specifications, schematics, Gerber files, a sample board, a bill of materials, and firmware source code.SmartASIC, 1-408-283-5098, www.smartasic.com.
