Fed up with Windows? Version 5, Personal Edition of the multithreaded and multimedia-friendly BeOS and an application-developer tool kit are now available for free downloading from http://www.be.com/products/freebeos/. Be (www.be.com) has also partnered with Gobe Software (www.gobe.com) to distribute the BeOS Pro Edition, which adds native support for MP3 encoding. Be has also released the source code for its Tracker and DeskBar APIs.
