Grain-of-sand thermistor is lead-free

A line of NTC (negative-temperature-coefficient) thermistors from Murata Electronics North America has minuscule 0201 dimensions (Picture). The company claims the NCP03 series has a unique inner construction that makes the lead-free thermistor suitable for high-density mounting. The thermistor, currently available with a 10-k? value, can provide temperature compensation and sensing for LCDs, car-audio equipment, and rechargeable batteries. The operating-temperature range of the device is –40 to +125°C. Prices range from 19 to 21 cents (100,000), depending on tolerance.
