Freescale Semiconductor has named Tom Linton as VP and chief procurement officer.
In his new role at the Austin, Texas company, Linton will oversee Freescale’s global procurement strategy and key supplier relationships with an emphasis on cost, quality and service. Linton will be based in Singapore to be closer to Freescale’s major foundry partners and assembly and test operations.
"Tom has extensive experience in global procurement and a keen understanding of the Asia Pacific supply chain market," said Jan Monney, Freescale's senior VP, business operations, in a statement. "His understanding of the entire supply chain and relationships with Asian suppliers will be an invaluable asset to Freescale."
Most recently Linton was chief procurement officer for Agere. Prior to Agere, Linton spent 20 years at IBM. During this time he built the procurement infrastructure in China, Singapore and Ireland, as well as held a number of key positions in supply management, manufacturing and marketing. Linton also founded the IBM-initiated startup E2open -- a supply chain software company where he served as VP and general manager.
