High-flying consumer electronics maker Apple Inc. has delayed its much-anticipated foray into the television realm, Apple TV.
The $299 video box's release, which had been slated to ship this month, has now been pushed back for release in mid-March.
"We are wrapping up the development of Apple TV, but it is taking a few weeks longer than expected," Apple spokesperson Teresa Brewer told Electronic News.
Despite the delay, Apple, which last month posted record Q1 revenues of $7.1 billion, is gearing up for a strong new product year. A few months after its Apple TV launch, the company will debut on the mobile phone market with its much-buzzed-about iPhone handset, which is priced at $499 to $599 and is slated for shipping in June.
