NSAI launches RoHS compliance assurance program

Aimed at simplifying companies' compliance with the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive, NSAI, which provides system and product certification services to a variety of international standards organizations, today announced the launch of its RoHS Compliance Assurance System (CAS) Certificate Program.
A number of companies have reported having trouble with the high cost and difficultly of complying with the directive's many statutes. According to NSAI, the new program is targeted at organizations wishing to demonstrate, through a third party certification, compliance to the European RoHS directive enforcement guidance document, which was issued in May 2006, two months before the regulations came into force in July 2006. Upon successfully completing the assessment process, clients are issued a certificate of compliance to use to market and promote their certified manufacturing process.
"The response to this program has been extremely positive as we are already working with many companies that signed on immediately to take advantage of this service," Chris Morrell NSAI's vice president, said in a statement. "We will be announcing the companies that have completed certification very soon."
