Worldwide semiconductor revenue in Q1 reached $67.3 billion, just 0.2% sequentially higher than Q4 2007, and 5% higher than Q1 2007, according to industry association Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA).
The figures are part of GSA’s Q1 global semiconductor financial report, which includes detailed trend analysis on financial data for fabless, integrated device manufacturer (IDM), pure-play foundry, intellectual property, electronic design automation, design service and back-end sectors.
Also, fabless semiconductor revenue equaled 20% of total semiconductor sales and totaled $13.4 billion in Q1, which was 16% higher than Q1 2007, the GSA noted. Total 2007 revenue from fabless companies reached $53 billion, a 7% increase from 2006.
The top 10 fabless companies by Q1 revenue combined to $7.8 billion, or 58% of total fabless revenue:
1.Qualcomm – QCT Division: $1.6 billion
2.NVIDIA: $1.2 billion
3.Broadcom: $1 billion
4.SanDisk: $850 million
5.Marvell Technology Group: $804.1 million
6.LSI: $660.7 million
7.MediaTek: $501.4 million
8.Xilinx: $475.8 million
9.Avago Technologies: $411 million
10.Altera: $336.1 million
Last December, the Fabless Semiconductor Association became the GSA to emphasize what it says is its global role in creating an effective ecosystem and expansion of leadership.
